The Team

Duc Nguyen

Physiotherapist, B.Sc.PT, MOPPQ,
Certified and Diplomaed McKenzie-MDT

earned his physiotherapy degree at McGill University in 2009. Ever since, he has specialized in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal problems, a field he is very passionate about. Since his graduation, Duc has accumulated over 700 hours of continuing education to better serve his patients. He has taken various courses in biomechanics, pain science, and manual therapy, but became especially interested in “Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy” (MDT), in which he obtained his Certification Level in 2013.

Ever since Duc started applying the MDT principles, he has seen a marked acceleration in his patients’ recovery. This motivated him to pursue and obtain the Diploma in MDT – the most advanced qualification of this kind in the world. He is amongst the five experts to hold this title in the province of Quebec.

When he is not working in the clinic, Duc likes to stay active by training and practicing martial arts.

Michael Dyck

Physiotherapist, B.Sc.PT, MOPPQ,
Certified and Diplomaed McKenzie-MDT

Michael graduated from McGill University in 2009 with a degree in physiotherapy. He then worked in a variety of settings: acute care in hospitals, geriatrics, pediatrics, rheumatology, and convalescence. He eventually started working in his preferred environment: musculoskeletal care.

Michael quickly realized that the McKenzie (MDT) approach provided far superior outcomes, and he pursued the training to become a Credentialed/Certified McKenzie therapist. Following that he pushed his professional development further, enrolling in and successfully completing the McKenzie Diploma Programme — the highest level of training in this approach worldwide.

Outside the clinic, Michael lives a double life — that of a musician. He is a choir director and jazz pianist, which complements well his work as a physiotherapist. He also spends too much time doing theatre improv and playing badminton. Lastly, Michael has a passion for nutrition and offers consultations in this field as well.

Youri Laplante –
El Haïli

Physiotherapist, B.Sc.PT, M.Sc PT, MOPPQ
Certification A et B McKenzie-MDT

Youri earned his Master’s in Physical Therapy at McGill University in 2018. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill as well as a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at l’Université de Montréal. After a few years doing research in a wet lab, it was clear he needed a clinical environment rich in social interactions in order to be fulfilled in his profession, and in physiotherapy Youri has found the perfect setting to put to utilize his dynamism and his social and scientific abilities.
Throughout his academic career, Youri was able to do his clinical placement with us at Expertise Physio and was captivated by the impressive results offered by our McKenzie-MDT approach. Youri stood out by his interpersonal skills, his ability to learn quickly, and his empathy towards patients. Since he was one of the best students we had ever had, we decided to hire him more than one year before his graduation!
Youri spends his free time training at the gym, and playing soccer, but mostly taking care of his puppy (the most adorable mini-poodle!). He also has a marked interest in psychology, philosophy, cooking and travelling.
